Our long drive on a moped from Chiang Mai to the Burmese border was made entirely worth it when we stopped just outside of Chiang Rai to visit Wat Rong Khun, or as it’s more commonly known, The White Temple.

It is one of the most stunning temples we have ever seen. Extravagant, ornate and with an astonishing attention to detail. The contemporary Buddhist and Hindu temple was designed by Thai artist Chalermchai Kositpipat in 1997 and buildings at the site are still being constructed – he is training people to continue the ambitious project even after his death. We’ll be sharing more photos of this incredible temple soon.
