We did a three day tour of the Pampas – a wetland area in Bolivia’s Amazon region. On our canoe ride we saw hundreds of alligators and got very close. Many of them were so still they looked like statues. Apparently they keep they mouths open to regulate the temperature but I think that scaring people off with those teeth is an added bonus.

these animals make me happy how they lay perfectly still for long periods of time
It is amazing how still they are.
I’m with Sofia – CREEPY. Although I can’t help but want to poke it with a stick.
We passed so close to them in the canoe that we had a terrible urge to reach out and touch them!
I would love to see an alligator with my own eyes but I think about 500 meters away is the best place to stand.
