We began November in Arequipa in southern Peru where we hoped to find an apartment for a month, but had no luck. We did enjoy strolling around the pretty plaza with volcano views and visiting the beautiful Santa Catalina Monastery.
We moved on to Lima which doesn’t have a great reputation but we found things to both like (good food, parks along the seafront and a wonderful park of water fountains) and hate (crazy traffic, crazy prices and constant cloud) about it. We decided it wasn’t right for our base so decided to treat ourselves for Simon’s 30th in a mountain lodge high up in the Andes near Huaraz.
It was a great decision. We enjoyed a relaxing few days at Lazy Dog Inn in our luxurious cabin, reading by the fire, eating delicious food, walking and horse riding. Two weeks later we are still here! We got offered a volunteering opportunity where we could stay for free while Simon built a website for their NGO. It’s been a wonderful place to enjoy some comfort, help out in the local pre-school and get to know the rural community.
Photos of Peru will be up on our website soon, but in the meantime you can see a selection on our Facebook Page.
Digital Nomad Update
We were due to launch a new website this week which would lead to releasing a product in February 2011. But Simon has had so much new web design & development work come in (six jobs to complete by the New Year!) that we’ve decided to postpone it until January.
The amount of work has also affected our travel plans. Instead of travelling overland through Northern Peru and Ecuador we are flying to Medellin, Colombia on 7th December where we will rent an apartment for a few months. We need a work base after three months of travel in Bolivia and Peru, and Colombia seems like a great option.
Special Offers on Language & Business Products
There are some fantastic deals on the internet at the moment as part of Thanksgiving weekend. There are big discounts on the language learning products Language Hacking Guide and Bueno, Entonce Spanish Course, both of which we have used and highly recommend. They have really helped on our path to Spanish fluency.
If you are interested in being able to travel and work anywhere in the world like we do, then there’s an amazing deal at the moment on business eBooks and courses. We just bought 23 products that are usually worth $1050 for only $97! $5 from every sale goes to charity too.
There is tons of great stuff in the package from successful location independent entrepreneurs such as:
- Chris Guillebeau’s Unconventional Guide to Working For Yourself
- Lea Woodward’s Location Independent Lifestyle Guide
- Karol Gajda’s How to Live Anywhere
And many many more. We are sure that working our way through these guides will help take our business to the next level, and they could help you too.
This ridiculously good deal is only available for 72 hours and the sale ends on Thursday 2nd December at 10am EST, so don’t miss out and check it out here.
The above links are affiliate links so if you buy any of these you not only get some awesome products but you help us out on our digital nomad journey too!
