Photo of the Week: Domino Park in Miami’s Little Havana image

To take a break from the South Beach scene we took a couple of buses over the bridge to reach Miami (actually a different city from Miami Beach) and see a different side of the city. Accompanied by Corinna from Little Havana Guide walking tours we explored the sights, sounds and tastes of the Cuban neighbourhood Little Havana.

We’ll be writing more about Little Havana and the fascinating walking tour but we wanted to share this photo of local residents playing dominoes in Maximo Gomez Park, or as it’s more commonly known Domino Park on Calle Ocho (8th Street). It’s a popular meeting place for the older Cuban community and even on a weekday morning when we were there it was busy with multiple domino games, all getting rather heated. They take their dominoes seriously here! Most of the players are men so this lone woman stood out to us.
