Highlights of 1 Year in South America

Last Tuesday we celebrated one year of travelling (and 10 days before that our blogoversary), all but four days of which were spent in South America. It’s an important milestone for us, as when we left the UK we had saved a years worth of travel funds to give us the chance to make Simon’s Line In web design business work. If we couldn’t make the digital nomad lifestyle sustainable after a year we planned to head to Asia to teach English.

Luckily we haven’t had to eat too much into our savings and we are nearing the point of breaking even each month. Our never ending voyage is set to continue – we have just moved onto Central America and have plans to visit Europe and North America in the summer.

Bueno, Entonces Review: The Fun Way To Learn Spanish

I’ve been curious about Bueno, entonces for a while – I’d heard good things about this new breed of Spanish course and had enjoyed their free You Tube Karaoke videos – so when the opportunity to get hold of a review copy of their entire course came along, I was more than happy to take a look.

Bueno, entonces is a unique way to learn Spanish. It’s an audio/video course where you learn alongside David, a cheeky Brit, who has travelled to Buenos Aires to learn the language with Jimena, his attractive teacher who he can’t stop hitting on. The soap opera storyline is a great idea and keeps you wanting to continue – it can be quite rude and is often laugh-out-loud funny – and the languague used is refreshing as you learn how Spanish is actually spoken, complete with modern slang and and vocabularly that you’ll really need.

Language Hacking Guide

Our first Spanish resources post recommended Benny’s Fluent in 3 Months blog, and since then he has released the very useful Language Hacking Guide outlining his unconventional approach to language learning. The focus is on communicating in the language from Day 1 and it is packed with tips on exactly how to do this. The guide has become our Bible and is a huge inspiration. Many of the tips below originally came from Benny.
