Akha Village
The Akha village that we visited on our weird trek from Luang Nam Tha. Was pretty medieval looking (except for the solar panels).
-
Gibbon Experience Jungle
This is the view of the jungle from our treehouse on the Gibbon Experience in North Laos.
-
Gibbon Experience Treehouse
Look how high up we slept! It was a private treehouse we had completely to ourselves and the only way in or out was by zipline. It was only a little concerning when we were told that we should evacuate in case of storms or high winds. Although, when we actually HAD a massive storm, we decided that hiding under the duvet was infinitely preferable to zipping in the dark and wet.
-
Jungle Jamming
Simon jamming with one of the young guides on the Gibbon Experience. Not sure why he was wearing a pink towel and no shoes in the middle of a vast jungle.
-
Kuang Si Waterfall
The amazingly picturesque Kuang Si Waterfall, near Luang Prabang. We went swimming in the lush aquamarine waters. Nice.
-
Baguette stall, Luang Prabang
The baguette stall - The last refuge for a vegetarian in Laos. 50p for a huge salad baguette. A steal at half the price.
-
Muang Ngoi Neua
A chilled out river village with no road access so we had to suffer a very cramped boat ride to get there.
-
Natural Dyes
Natural dyes being made naturally by us near Luang Prabang. This one in particular is made from the seed of the Annatto tree (pictured). It goes red (also pictured). We had to grind these bad boys up by hand in a pestle and mortar.
-
Tham Pha Thok Caves
These are the cool limestone caves that we had all to ourselves which we borrowed from the Communist villagers who hid here during the second Indo-China war.
