We were struck by how modern downtown Vancouver is. There are none of the ugly brown 60s tower blocks that you find in other cities – it’s all shiny, sleek high rises that shimmer as the sun sets.

Cool pic. I like that I can’t tell necessarily what parts are the actual building and what parts are just reflections in the glass!
Thanks Kyle – I like that too.
I’m moving there one day
It’d be a great city to live in.
Dear Simon & Erin,
Your photos of Vancouver are making me long for my birthcity.
Your photo of the building is of Park Place on Burrard Street in downtown Vancouver. I’m glad you enjoyed downtown, though some first-time visitors have “complained” to me about all the new towers with “boring” blue-green glass … you know, to reflect the light from all those trees, water, mountains, and sky …
p.s. apparently, your version of “CommentLuv” is out of date – you might want to look into that, too!
I’m not usually a fan of downtown areas of big cities, preferring the quirkier neighbourhoods, but we thought Vancouver’s was lovely – beautiful buildings and an amazing setting.
