A trio of Shan salads at the Free Bird Cafe in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The main salad is a flavourful Shan Noodle Salad with rice noodles, red onion, grated carrot, coriander, spring onion and cabbage. In the background there’s a Shan Papaya Salad (which differs from the Thai version with the addition of potato) and Burmese Tea Leaf Salad – our favourite unusual salad.

It really was – we love the interesting salads from Thailand and Burma. Makes a nice change from boring iceberg lettuce!
You must stop posting food photos, it’s too much of a temptation to travel there!

Yes we love Khao Soi and it’s easy to find vegetarian versions for us in Chiang Mai.
Oh I love love love Thai food! The taste of coriander in their food is just amazing. And you’re right, you can find a lot of variety to choose from if you are a vegetarian. Yummy picture!
Thanks Anjii – we loved the varied salads in Thailand.
