Only 25 minutes away by train from Bruges, the university city of Ghent is far less touristy but just as attractive. It’s a lovely place to stroll around, especially by the canal, which reminded us of Amsterdam with the historic buildings, colourful flower boxes and bikes lining the cobbled paths.
