Dream Save Do: A Guide To Achieving The Life You Want

In the past four years we have spent a year travelling around the world, returned to the UK and taken short trips to Seville and Italy, spent six months working on a music career (Simon), and then set off again 20 months ago to travel indefinitely. How Much Does It Cost To Travel In Japan?

The cost of travel in Japan puts many people off visiting. We wouldn’t have travelled there ourselves if we hadn’t had the opportunity to spend three and a half weeks housesitting in Kyoto. Yes, it is expensive, at times shockingly so, but it probably doesn’t cost much more than many places in Western Europe and it was utterly worth it. There aren’t many places in the world that have such a unique and fascinating culture, yet it’s a developed country where everything just works. The people are wonderfully polite, the trains are comfortable and always on time, accommodation is of a high standard and the food is delicious.

How We Were Robbed and How to Avoid It

Yesterday we were robbed. We only lost $30, a debit card, and a USB drive but what stung the most was that we let it happen.

In over two years of travel this has never happened to us. Our debit card was cloned during the first week of our first round the world trip but the bank promptly refunded the £600 loss and it didn’t affect us much. We had a near miss in Rio, but again we didn’t actually lose anything. Despite the horror stories we often hear, during the last 14 months in Latin America we’ve felt entirely safe and street smart.

So how did we let this happen?

A Digital Nomad Budget: 3 Months in Bolivia & Peru

We have now been digital nomads for nine months. We previously shared how much we spent in our six months in Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay budget, and now we look at how much three months in Bolivia and Peru cost.

We have set ourselves a monthly budget of £1000 ($1550) for two people, so our daily budget is £33 ($50). We also have an extra few thousand set aside for big expenses like tours, major activities and flights.
